Final Year Project
ORA is an oral health assessment tool for the care home environment, assisting carers with the inspection of a resident’s oral cavity.
The user is able to rotate and switch between the dual cameras, ensuring flexible visibility in the mouth to capture both image and video. Data is then stored in an app and processed by AI to present results of the assessment. This provides carers with guidance on how to improve oral care, with the option to use the results for further referral.
Ensuring portability, the device can be detached and stored in its charging case, which also contains the disposable head sleeves for cleanliness.
ORA has been designed with manufacture in mind.
Various methods of prototyping were undertaken to develop the final design through the use of foam, cardboard, 3D printing and electronics.
‘halo’ is a discrete respiratory health monitor for patients with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).
It aims to reduce the likelihood of costly emergency readmissions within the crucial 90-day period after discharge.
Data from biosensors are stored in the app, which uses AI technology to detect potential issues, notifying both patients and GPs.
