Final Project
My project investigated corrosion – specifically in metals. This subject matter allowed me to combine my interest in colour with texture and material exploration.
I intended to consider this through a wide range of techniques and processes (such as rust dyeing and embroidery) to widen the scope of my investigation.
Much of my work has been inspired by research of artists, processes, aesthetics and material possibilities to allow me to create a refined and fully developed outcome.
My final piece was influenced by the Japanese aesthetic ‘Wabi Sabi’ and aimed to act as a metaphor to show the beauty within ageing and decay in a visual and tactile landscape of form and texture.
