Extensive research was conducted throughout the design process of PeTreat, ensuring a thorough understanding of the needs and preferences of pet owners. As an individual project, I meticulously analyzed market trends, conducted user surveys, and studied existing products in the pet industry. This research-driven approach enabled me to identify pain points and design a solution that addresses them effectively. By combining insights from the pet food industry, user feedback, and my expertise in product design, PeTreat was meticulously crafted to provide pet owners with a reliable, user-friendly, and sustainable way to transform food waste into delectable treats for their furry companions. The result is a product that not only promotes healthier pet nutrition but also contributes to a more environmentally conscious lifestyle.
During the concept development phase of my individual project, I devoted significant time to sketching and refining ideas for PeTreat. With a focus on user experience and functionality, I explored various design concepts to ensure the final product meets the needs of pet owners seamlessly. Through countless sketches and iterations, I fine-tuned the aesthetics, ergonomics, and overall user interaction of PeTreat. Each sketch was carefully evaluated, considering factors such as ease of use, space optimisation, and visual appeal. This iterative process allowed me to create a well-considered and visually captivating design for PeTreat, ensuring that it not only performs flawlessly but also stands out in the market.
In order to bring the PeTreat design to life, I made necessary adjustments to the CAD model to prepare it for prototyping. Taking into account manufacturing constraints, I applied Design for Manufacture (DFM) techniques to optimise the design for efficient and cost-effective production. Through careful consideration of material selection, assembly methods, and production processes, I ensured that PeTreat could be manufactured at scale without compromising its functionality or aesthetics. By implementing DFM principles, I streamlined the manufacturing process, minimised potential errors, and optimised the overall design for seamless production. The result is a prototype-ready PeTreat design that embodies both form and function, ready to be brought into the hands of pet owners worldwide.
During the prototyping phase of my project, I utilised various methods to bring the PeTreat design to life. Different prototyping techniques, including 3D printing, water jet and laser cutting, vacuum forming, CNC machining, and heat bending, were employed to create a functional prototype. These methods allowed for the fabrication of different components with precision and accuracy, ensuring that the prototype closely resembled the final product.
By leveraging a combination of these prototyping techniques, I was able to iterate and refine the design, test its functionality, and make necessary adjustments for optimal performance. The prototyping process was crucial in validating the PeTreat concept and ensuring its feasibility as a practical and user-friendly device.
PeTreat incorporates a user-friendly touchscreen interface, offering a seamless and intuitive experience for pet owners. The touchscreen interface allows for easy navigation and provides clear instructions for operation and cleaning.
Additionally, the drawers of PeTreat are designed to be dishwasher safe, enabling effortless cleaning and maintenance. By leveraging these features, PeTreat ensures convenience and efficiency for users, eliminating the hassle of manual cleaning.
During my time as a Design Intern, I collaborated with clients to create functional and visually appealing retail store layouts at Fraction Design Studio. I also designed an innovative exhibit using reusable cardboard, which received recognition at FIND – Design Fair Asia.
At Verra Asia, I engineered four successful ad campaigns, increasing customer engagement rates and reaching new target audiences through revamped marketing content.
While interning at Studionorm Design Consultants, I designed successful restaurant interiors and developed a range of new products, including food platters and bar stools.
